We have many seasonal owners in Florida. Some of these owners take their light out while they were gone, but others keep them in the water throughout the year, but have someone keep an eye on the light for them. It is ideal having someone keep an eye on the light while you are out of town. This is just to ensure that the light is on every night. If there is a power surge, or loss of power at your dock while you are gone, the bulb cannot turn on under the water. This does not allow the bulb to clean itself off, so when you return, your bulb will be covered in barnacles or any other aquatic growth. Having a neighbor, or a friend check on it every few days while ensure your fish will keep coming, and your light will be functioning perfectly when you return.

Many of our seasonal customers simply dismount their system and bring them inside. That way, they are packaged safe inside to avoid any problems with hurricanes, thunder storms, surges, and power outages while they are gone. It is definitely possible to keep your light in the water year-round, but one must consider the issues that can occur while no one is at your house to ensure it is still working.
